HISTORY

The motorclubs HAMOVE (Hengelo Gld, The Netherlands), KV Ostend Motorsport (Oostende, Belgium) and MSC Frohburger Dreieck (Frohburg, Germany) have started an international competition in 2003. The name of the competition was ‘3 nations cup’. The goal of this cup was an international competition between 10 Dutch drivers, 10 Belgium drivers and 10 German drivers. The total competition existed of 6 manches, 2 at every event. In the first few years the Belgium drivers got most of the prices. But the last few years the Dutch and German drivers get better and better resulting in the first price of the last year that went to the German driver Didier Grams. The winners of the 3 nations cup and IRRC are:

The competition had some excellent drivers, like Bob Withag, Swen Ahnendorp, Bas Winkel, Robert Menzen and Wim Theunissen (The Netherlands), Sebastien Le Grelle, Kris Jennes, Alex Verleye, Stefan Demeulemeester, Denny Lannoo and Gregory Fastre (Belgium), Didier Grams, Bernd Scheeder, Udo Reichmann, Thomas Kreutz and Rico Penzkofer (Germany).
In 2009 more circuits approached the organisation of the ‘3 nations cup’ to join the competition in 2010. Drivers from countries other than the organising countries had the same question.
So it was time for a change, time for a new competition. A new competition needs a new name. The new name was International Road Racing Championship (IRRC). The goal was the same: an international competition on road circuits. The amount of circuits of the competition was expanded in 2010. Besides the races in Hengelo Gld, Oostende and Frohburg there are races at Chimay (Belgium) and Schleiz (Germany). This year there is another change. The competition also goes to the Czech Republic, to the circuit of Terlicko. There is only one event in Belgium this year. There is no race in Oostende because of reconstruction work on and next to the circuit. If the competition comes there back again in the future, only the future can tell.
